Propagation [mechanical]: increase in length and area of a fault or other type of fracture or fault or other type of fracture zone, commonly involving an increase in displacement. Propagation has been described for dykes (e.g., Okamura et al., 1988), faults (e.g., Walsh and Watterson, 1988; Reches and Lockner, 1994), veins (e.g., Grimm and Orange, 1997).(From Peacock et al., 2016, Glossary of fault and other fracture networks, J.
